Zuchu made her debut in April, 2020, with I am ZUCHU EP under Wasafi Record Label, owned by a mega global star, Diamond Platnumz, in which it amounted her to being the first East African female artist to exceed more than 100,000 subscribers within a week. This 27 year old bombshell, also won AFRIMMA’s, Emerging Artist Award 2020. This comes to no surprise with her being a daughter of a legendary Tanzanian Taarab star, Khadija Kopa.

Taarab is a popular genre in the coasts of Tanzania & Kenya, it is influenced by the musical traditions of the African Great Lakes, North Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. Zuchu has made her mark in the industry with her sensational soothing voice & style.

AYRA STARR

Well, if you haven’t heard about Ayra, this is chance for you to get familiar with this born star, Ayra who made her official debut a few days ago with 5 songs EP under Mavin’s Record, by a Nigerian music mogul, Don Jazzy. Why is she on this list & it has only being days for her, her EP made it to no. 1 on Apple charts in her country.

A native from Edo State, Nigeria, Arya is a 19-year-old who blends Afrobeats & R & B in her style, who has drawn her inspiration from her late father. One thing for sure, once you start listening you won’t stop.

It’s the mix of Swahili, Xitsonga & English in her music plus her colorful fashion that makes her stand out. When she released her single, John Cena, which went viral globally referencing the famous WWE wrestler John Cena, Sho Madjozi is one of the most outstanding creatives Africa is blessed to have.

Born, Maya Christinah Wegerif, Sho Madjozi is a rapper, singer, songwriter from Limpopo Province in South Africa, who is currently under Epic Records with many accolades under her name, one being, Best New International Act awarded to her by BET Awards.

ELAINE

Elaine’s risky

Elaine Benes is a South African R&B singer/ songwriter from Pretoria, she goes by just Elaine, so call her Elaine. She now considered the “it girl’ in the South African music scene, now taking over Africa, & the world. This 21-year-old is in her element, like her EP, ‘Element’ which according to the artist, all members of the team that helped make Elements a chart topping EP were students no older than 21. (Source: Mail & Guardian ZA).

With no help of any record label, she single handedly reached number one spot on the South African iTunes & Apple Music album charts, making her the first solo female artist to do that. The artist has ever since amounted so many success & now signed under Columbia Records.
