Unveiling the Mind of a Rising Star
As a young writer, who do you see as your primary audience? How do you connect with your readership?
As an upcoming writer I would say my primary audience are these people who are into literature, people who are studying literature, people who are trying to get into literature as a way of entertainment. There are people who read poems (poetry) as a source of entertainment and there are people in High School and Universities who are studying literature as a profession. So I believe that’s my primary audience but also want to expand to capture people who love reading novels or people who love listening to music because music is also kind of an oral form of poetry!
What challenges have you faced as a writer, and how have you overcome them?
Challenges that I face as a writer, are so many, they are literally very many. I came across, I watch a lot of animations and movies; currently I have been watching “Family Guy” for a very long time, about 2, 3 years. The guy who directs Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane.
So this guy before even writing Family Guy, he tried writing a book, just a simple story book, to get it out there, to make it up as a writer, so there is this character called “Stewie”, who was talking to “Brian” telling him that Seth MacFarlane tried writing a book and the signed copy was selling cheap more than a brand new copy (that was a funny part). But making it as a writer is a very difficult thing and it’s a huge challenge most especially in third world countries and countries that don’t majorly don’t speak English as much.
For me, I love a challenge and I believe that eventually when people understand the importance of reading or the importance of developing their own writers to build a certain history is amazing. So I take up the challenge believing that me being amongst the people who have a mission to uplift the writing society within.
Are there any poets or writers who have had a particular influence on your work?
On people who have influenced me in writing poetry and writing in general, I have read a lot of books, specific authors and specific poets that have people who write novels or just normal books but there are specific writers that have directly impacted my work. Poets such as Edgar Allan Poe, Rudyard Kipling, these are poets that are legendary and the kind of work they have done is mind blowing.
I believe there are even way more poets that I have probably not explored but these poets to me have being an inspiration to get into poetry and even love it way more than how I used to look at it before. When it comes to writers, basically, Robert Grenier (poet), has really given me, has been an inspiration to me, he doesn’t write books concerning novels, he basically writes books that are concerning human behavior but how he writes them he can’t be replicated, it’s sometimes that is unique to him, I believe this guy is s genius when it comes to writing.
It’s a totally different unique style, that can’t be replicated and that’s what I’m trying to find is my own niche.
