Abela Kibira: “I am my biggest source of Inspiration”
How has motherhood transitioned you in your career & in life.
Motherhood has completely changed my life and the way I view the world and changed the way I view everything! The transition into motherhood was not easy but once my twins were here my life has never been filled with bliss, they make my life easier and more lovable. I have been in my amazing space and writing a lot of music since becoming a mom.
What made you pursue your career as a bongo flavor artist beside having an opportunity to pursue in the United States?
So I did a very small career in the United States, like I said, I was in a band I used to do solo performances, I would participate in showcases so once I moved to Tanzania I just continued doing music with people were around me. Especially with the way digital music is distributed now I do believe that I can be in America or Tanzania and still target a global audience with my music
What’s your recipe for a hit? Take us through the cooking process
Ok so for me personally I have to have all the things in my life in order as far as like; my house has to be clean, my kids have to be safe somewhere with someone I trust. I have to have people that respect my artistry around me and a lot of snacks for motivation. The energy in the studio has to be just right, which sometimes can lead to a hit song.
“I am my biggest source of inspiration”
What’s your most ambitious project that you are proud of?
The most ambitious project I took on, to date, was being the only featured artist on Naomisia’s EP ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ in 2020. We made a song called ‘Pumzika’. It’s one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever been featured on and I’m super proud of my work on it.
Are you planning to release any new project? Solo or a collab
I will be releasing a solo track written by Naomisia, very soon. I also have other solo music I’m hoping to release this year. I will also be working with other artists in Tanzania on collabs.
What else do you do besides music?
I am a full-time mother, I also have a full-time job and those things keep me pretty busy when I’m not actively in music.
To commemorate February as a month of love, what does love mean to you? ‘So called love’
Love to me is freedom, is pure joy. Love to me is the single most important thing in the world, and I believe, the meaning of life.
