Evans Ngure: A Maverick Creator of Life
Evans Ngure is a Kenyan artist who describes himself as a creator & sculptor aiming to educate the need to achieve biodiversity and practice better waste management whilst celebrating animals as important players in the wellbeing of our eco system.
His expertise lies in the mixture of rejected material and found objects, bringing art to life character in form of animal collages, sculptures, jewelry, light pieces and most recently installations.
The third edition of Art In The Open Show held at the Village Market that took place during the past weekend, Evans was among the artists show casing their works in which he made headlines on Business Daily, as a sculptor of beautiful junk art. The beauty of his art is how incorporates tools/ objects which a regular mind would find hard to comprehend nonetheless the finish product will leave your jaw drop.
He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art, awarded the Kenya Arts Diary Artist Residency in 2016. From early childhood memories, Evans would collect what people may consider as trash, with constant urge to collect hidden coins, shells and pebbles from dirt and deconstruct electronics and toys at home.
Creating meaningful art, meaning out every object & tools. Each item on his artwork is deliberate, placed to form the overall meaning, concept. Art’s ability to shock remains for some a sturdy source of its contemporary appeal. Art is more valuable when it disrupts or astonishes people.
