FRIDA AMANI: People don’t know that I am not as gangster as I look.

Bad by Frida (Queen fifi)

Hip-Hop is already a tough & niche market in East Africa, as a female MC how do you cope & break barriers

It’s not just about hip-hop, I feel like music it is a tough business to be honest, for a man, for a woman, it’s tough but how do you do it?!

“we knew it is going to be tough, so you know, I knew it was going to be tough, I just don’t think about the barriers.”

I just do my music & let it out there, I make sure that my fans understand me as an artist, understand what I bring, who I want to be, I don’t act different. I do music that my fans will understand, & if they do, I will not set the barriers, the barriers will be there if they don’t understand.

The only thing am doing as an artist, am making sure that they understand my art, so I really don’t care if it is tough or not, nothing is easy & you know I’m a tough woman so it’s just easy for me.”

I won’t say easy but I am tough so I’m gonna do it.

If not you, who would you consider as talented as you in your genre?

If not Me, No one.

Cause you know, it is art, no one can reach the length of your art”

If you are a real artist you just got your own lane & that should be always. So, I don’t think there is anyone who is as talented as me, who can even reach the level of any talent. I feel like if you are talented, you are talented.

just do you man, I do me, so no one is as talented as I am. No ONE”

What has been your biggest achievement?

My biggest achievement I would say, the fact that I have got great fans, I think that’s one of my biggest achievements. There are a lot of things that I’ve achieved in my life but I think as an artist my biggest achievement is the fact that I have fans who believe in me, who love my music, who I know if I say I have a show, they will come & catch me perform because they love my music.

King Kaka ft. Frida Amani

On collaborations, you have collaborated with King Kaka on his King & Servants project, should we expect more outside collabos 7 would you travel further?

Yes, I did work with King Kaka, it was a great experience. He is one of the greatest in East Africa, so I learned some stuff & it was beautiful, I’m glad I got the chance, grateful for him.

Collaborations, of course there are different collaborations outside East Africa, I have one in Nigeria, ‘it was supposed to be out by March 2020, but it didn’t happen because of Corona’, she added.

I have collabos coming, outside of Tanzania, outside of East Africa, I also have collabos coming, of me & artists in Kenya. I think my fans should just expect big things.

If you were to work with any artist around the globe, who would it be?

There are artists that I would love to work with. The first one is Kanye West, why, I love Kanye West, I think there is no one like him, he is a genius, his art is on another level, I would love to feel what he feels, when writing & all that.

The second one, if one day I get a chance to work with Lauryn Hill, I will be blessed.

It will be a blessing for me, it won’t even be about the name, but a blessing that I got a chance to work with one of my biggest Inspiration.

Also, people don’t know that I fear every thing. Like, I’m so scared of cockroaches, I’m scared of anything that flies, I’m scared of the darkness, I’m just a weird person to be honest.

  1. Can I just say what a comfort to find somebody who really knows what theyre talking about on the web. You definitely understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people have to read this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised that you arent more popular because you surely possess the gift.
